Grilled Cheese
Required : cheese, bread, butter
optional (preferred) griddle to cook on
steps :
cut some thin slices off cheese block
lightly butter one side of your bread slices
after getting pan/griddle hot enough*,
place bread butter down on cook surface
give the butter side a little time to cook and flip over (so the non buttery side gets a lil butter [doesnt need much, gonna be solid cheese inside sandwich])
after a short interval**, flip slices back over and place a cheese slice or two (your preference, dont go too nutty or it wont melt right) on one of the sides that wasnt buttered
after another short interval, put the other cooking piece of bread on top of your cheese side. now it looks like a grilled cheese.
flip that bad boy for a bit until the outsides match your preferred level of crispy!
you can just crank these suckers out if you assembly line cut enough cheese and butter enough bread. feed an entire army of friends! convert entire loaves of bread into one meal!
tips:
you REALLY dont need a ton of butter. some people like to butter both sides but imho thats insane
griddle is the best to cook em on for a lots of people since you can cook like 8-10 slices of bread simultaneously. plus the butter is kinda cumulative.
if the butter isnt soft you are going to have a bad time. try to set some out ahead of time
favorite way to eat em :
with a small container of hot sauce to dunk. just the classic water/ chili peppers/ vinegar types. mmMMMM way better than tomato soup
other :
* your pan is hot enough when you drip water on it and it skates around in dancing orbs
** figure out what your short interval is. depends on your taste, or how hot your cooking surface is. usually 20-30sec ish to a minute.
set griddles for approx 375 degrees
